Abstract

We live in an era in which what Hostos called the “Principle of Great Nationalities” has become an evident reality. The return to the original sources of our constitutional order responds to the need to understand what we, as a society, must rely upon to ensure the continuity of our nation-state across space and time. High aspirations and the redesign of collective imaginaries, characters, and mentalities must inevitably take a central place on the agendas of politicians, educators, leaders, and those who shape social consensus today. The notions of man and nation are called to play a decisive role in facing the current crossroads of humanity and in shaping that specific way of being human that constitutes Dominican identity.
