Philosophizing from the shadows: policrisis and permacrisis

Abstract

This work presents a critical-reflective philosophical discourse aimed at understanding and explaining polycrises and permacrises in the cyberworld. It starts from a cybernetic and innovative philosophy that is not self-contained, as it involves dialogue and interaction with other disciplines and knowledge. The subject under study goes beyond merely describing or analyzing current events in the world and the cyberworld. It also opposes determinism, pessimism, or fatalism. In this third decade of the 21st century, we witness a multiplicity of crises affecting planet Earth, including ecological, economic, technological, social, political, cultural, and ethical crises. These crises fall under the term "polycrises" as they interrelate, reinforce each other, and tend to persist, leading to a state of permacrisis, marked by uncertainty and risk not only for humanity but also for the planet Earth itself.
